HOW TO APPLY
Please complete the following steps to apply:
Submit an Application
Click on the Apply Now button to apply online. There is a $35 application fee.
Send Official Sealed Copies of Your College Transcripts
- Alternative Certification Candidates: After you have completed the application, please have four (4) official transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities mailed directly to National Teacher Education Center (NTEC)
- All Other Candidates: After you have completed the application, please have two (2) official transcripts from all previously attended colleges and universities mailed directly to National Teacher Education Center (NTEC)
If you attended an institution outside the United States, have your transcripts evaluated by an approved evaluation service such as Educational Credential Evaluators (www.ece.org) and send official sealed copies of your evaluation report instead of your transcripts.
Send Your Letters of Recommendation (Graduate Students Only)
Send three letters of recommendation. Whenever possible one letter should speak to your prior academic or work experience and at least one letter should speak to your ability to work effectively with children. Candidates with experience working in schools should send letters from school administrators or supervisors. Letters from organizations where you may have worked with children on either a paid or volunteer basis will also be considered.

Sign up for the Basic Skills Test (Certification Candidates Only)
Certification candidates will need to present passing scores on the Illinois Basic Skills Test or Wisconsin Praxis I test prior to beginning their second semester in the program. We recommend taking the test now. Please see the Test Prep link for more information about testing.
If you plan to participate in the Alternative Certification Program you must also pass additional tests prior to the start of your send semester. See the Testing Requirements Page for more details.
Apply for Financial Aid
If you are planning to use financial aid you should complete the Free Application for Financial Aid (FAFSA) online at www.fafsa.ed.gov naming Quincy University as your institution. The Quincy Code is 001745.
