TRADITIONAL TEACHER CERTIFICATION TRACK

The traditional track of the Master of Science in Education program gives you the opportunity to earn your master's degree and a teaching license in the evenings while continuing to work at your current job. All programs have an option for a Bilingual, ESL, or Reading endorsement.

HOW IT WORKS

The M.S. Ed. Program is offered in a blended format, with online instruction and face-to-face seminars offered at convenient locations near you. The blended format allows you a flexible schedule during the day, so you can maintain your current employment. During your last semester, you will need to complete a student teaching assignment during normal school hours. The student teaching assignment for one semester must be an unpaid position.

You can complete your degree and earn your teaching license in as short a time as 18 months. There are no testing requirements to enter the program. However, you will have to pass the basic skills test required by your state prior to enrolling in the second semester of the program. We recommend that you take this test as early as possible.

LICENSURE AND ENDORSEMENT OPTIONS

When you have successfully completed your coursework, including your student teaching, and have passed all certification exams required by your state, you will earn a Master of Science in Education. You will also earn your teacher certification. If you have also completed the Bilingual, ESL, or Reading sequence, you will receive your endorsement.
