HOW DO I QUALIFY?

All M.S. Ed. with Certification candidates must meet the following minimum requirements:

   • Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or the verified overseas equivalent
   • Demonstrate content preparation matching the certification area

   • Undergraduate cumulative G.P.A of 3.0 (applicant's with a G.P.A. lower than 3.0 may be considered for conditional admission)

Candidates must also provide passing scores on the basic skills test required by the state before they can be accepted into the program

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ALTERNATIVE CERTIFICATION TRACK

In order to qualify for the provisional license and begin teaching during their second semester, candidates must:

   • Earned a grade of “B” or better in each first-semester course;
   • Passed the subject-matter content exam required by their state.

   • Successfully complete a two-week practice teaching assignment, and
   • Hold a teaching job in their area of certification prior to beginning the Apprenticeship Phase of the Alternative Certification program.

NTEC will assist candidates who meet the first four requirements in finding a qualifying job. However, finding a qualifying job is ultimately the responsibility of the candidate.
